MG has a shot at sporty with its 2020 MG3S

MG Motor Australia has revealed a limited-edition version of its MG3 small car, the MG3S, an exclusive, sporty trim level for Australia-only.

The MG3S will be limited to just 100 units and consists of a contrast black highlighted sporty body kit including side skirts, a rear spoiler, black alloy wheels, limited edition badgework and weather shields.

It will be available in a choice of two interior colour schemes and will wear an MSRP of $16,990, sitting just $1000 above the entry-level Core’s $15,990 price, but below the top-spec Excite’s $17,490 price.

As a part of the upgrade the limited edition MG3 scores black alloy wheels.

Mechanically, the MG3S shares its running gear with the rest of the MG3 range, being powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine good for 82kW/150Nm. All MG3s now have a four-speed Aisin-sourced torque converter automatic transmission.

Inside, the MG3S remains the same aside from its bespoke colours, with an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

All MGs now have a seven year/unlimited kilometre warranty, which is equal longest in Australia alongside matching promises from Kia and Ssangyong.

The MG3 was last updated for the 2018 model year with completely overhauled styling and a new multimedia offering alongside the introduction of the seven-year warranty, although it’s still missing today’s expected active safety inclusions like auto emergency braking (AEB).

MG3 2020 pricing:
