VW Caddy 2020 pricing and specs detailed: Limited-edition Urban Edition joins light-commercial van line-up

Volkswagen Australia has launched the limited-run Caddy Urban Edition priced at $35,540 before on-road costs.

Exclusive to just 70 units, the Urban Edition is based on the Maxi Van body style, but comes with a number of cosmetic and specification enhancements targeted at inner-city business customers, according to the brand.

As such, the Urban Edition is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine outputting 92kW/220Nm to the front axle via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

To differentiate the itself from the rest of the Caddy line-up, the Urban Edition sports 16-inch ‘Bendigo’ alloy wheels, unique front foglights and a 6.3-inch multimedia touchscreen with App-Connect functionality.

Standard equipment that carries over from the donor car includes rear barn doors, five seats, autonomous emergency braking, rear parking sensors, hill-start assist and driver fatigue detection.

For reference, the Urban Edition is $2000 pricier than the automatic Caddy Maxi TSI220 it is based on, but also more affordable than the 75kW/250Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel Caddy Maxi TDI250 ($35,740).

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Australia boss said: “Times are incredible tough for all businesses right now, but many of them cannot afford to stop.

“The Caddy Urban Edition takes some of our most popular and practical features and adds them to an already compelling package,” he said.

“We’ve priced these 70 units as a turnkey, solution, and to offer businesses great value for money.”
