The world’s most powerful ute! The insane Nissan Navara-R will leave your V8-powered Ram 1500 in its dust

If you’re sick of waiting for a NISMO-badged Nissan Navara to take the fight to the Ford Ranger Raptor, we’ve got the perfect solution for you. In fact, it might be a little too perfect – and a lot too terrifying. 

The mad scientists at SB Motorsport in the UK are putting the finishing touches on what will be the world’s most dramatic dual-cab ute, fitting a Nissan Navara with the screaming engine from the R35 GT-R ‘Godzilla’.

A reminder before we move on. Currently, the most powerful Navara sold in Australia is fitted with a 2.3-litre twin-turbo-diesel, good for a healthy 140kW and 450Nm.

This ute, on the other hand, makes a whole lot more. In fact, with Godzilla’s twin-turbo, 3.8-litre V6 wedged under its bonnet, this bananas Navara should make around 745kW, according to the company’s projections. That’s more even than the actual GT-R, which is good for 419kW and 632Nm.

And that is a lot. What’s more, this Navara-zilla also makes use of new racing suspension, a significantly lower ride height, a new bodykit and new aero. 

If you thought the power outputs were hard to believe, consider this – the firm is also planning for the Navara conversion to be road legal, at least in the UK.

“This project has always been on the cards for SB Motorsport, ever since our initial GT-R project. With racing currently on hold this was the break we needed to re-visit the idea and bring it to fruition,” says the company’s founder, Stephen Biagioni.

“We have the best partners and they share our vision to create another great vehicle that will challenge the normalities of what’s possible, this is going to be an exciting mix of performance meets practicality.

“The Navara-R as we have already dubbed it, will challenge our in-house know-how. With this build, the aim is to keep the Navara road-legal, all the mod-cons of the vehicle, rather than creating a race-car chassis with minimal extras.”

As you might expect, the Navara-R will likely remain a one-off build, and you’ve got a better chance of winning lotto than seeing Nissan do an official version.
