Subaru Forester 2020 pricing and spec confirmed: Small equipment bump for popular mid-size SUV

Subaru Australia has tweaked its Forester mid-size SUV range for the 2020 model year, slightly increasing specification and pricing.

Now kicking off at $34,690 before on-road costs, the 2.5i is just $50 more expensive than before.

However, the new Forester is now fitted with an LED rear license plate light and upgraded tyre pressure monitoring system, while the 4.2-inch driver display now sports a rear seatbelt warning.

The remaining variants, including the 2.5i-L, 2.5i Premium and 2.5i-S, have moved up $250 to $36,940, $39,940 and $42,990 respectively.

The larger increase in price however, coincides with the addition of heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

As before, all local Forester’s are powered by a 136kW/239Nm 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which is paired to a continuously variable automatic transmission that sends drive to all four wheels.

Standard equipment also carries over as before, which includes 17-inch wheels, full-sized spare wheel, six-speaker sound system and 6.3-inch multimedia touchscreen.

Safety-wise, the Forester is fitted with an EyeSight dual-camera active safety system that enables autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, as well as a reversing camera, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring and automatic LED headlights.

Moving up to the 2.5i-L adds a driver monitoring system, while the Premium grade brings in 18-inch wheels, chrome window surrounds, alloy pedals, electronic-folding rear seats, powered tailgate, larger 8.0-inch multimedia system and leather-accented interior.

Finally, the top-spec 2.5i-S gains silver-coloured exterior highlights, electric sunroof, nine-speaker sound system and full-leather interior.

In the first quarter of 2020, Subaru Australia will also bring in its petrol-electric Forester e-Boxer variant, which could capitalise on the long wait times for the hybrid Toyota RAV4.
