Skoda Octavia 2020 pricing and specs confirmed: MY20 range up to $5000 dearer

Skoda Australia has increased pricing of its Octavia by up to $5000 as part of a MY20 update that will see out the current generation of the mid-sizer.

With its fourth-generation model due locally in early 2021, the Octavia has received a marked lift in standard equipment, although buyers can expect to pay more.

The entry-level 110TSI sedan is $1000 dearer, at $24,890 for the six-speed manual and $27,390 for the dual-clutch automatic, while their wagon counterparts are $1600 dearer, costing $26,990 and $29,490 respectively.

While the automatic-only 110TSI Sport now costs $32,290 (+$1900) in sedan form and $34,390 (+$2500) in wagon guise, the largest price rises are in fact reserved for the performance-focused RS245 sedan and wagon, which are up significantly, to $49,990 (+$4500) and $51,990 (+$5000) respectively.

A digital instrument cluster is now standard range-wide alongside a heated windshield, power-folding side mirrors with heating and auto-dimming, keyless entry and start, and rear autonomous emergency braking (AEB), while the wagon body style further adds a power-operated tailgate.

The 110TSI grade also gets dusk-sensing headlights and rain-sensing wipers, while the RS245 variants gain 19-inch Xtreme alloy wheels and the sedan goes a step further with a black roof spoiler.

Standard equipment otherwise carries over, with all grades featuring a touchscreen multimedia system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, dual-zone climate control, front AEB, adaptive cruise control and a reversing camera.

As before, Luxury and Tech options packages – or a combination of the two – are available, with pricing dependent on the chosen grade.

110TSI variants are motivated by a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine, while the RS245 grade ups the ante with a 180kW/370Nm 2.0-litre unit.
