RECALL: Thousands of Isuzu D-Max dual-cab utes could have broken leaf springs

Isuzu Australia has voluntarily recalled 2,323 D-Max dual-cab utes over a potential fracturing issue with their rear leaf springs.

Affecting MY18-MY19 examples sold from January 27, 2018 to February 28, 2020, the recall involves the D-Max’s rear leaf springs, which could fracture due to the insufficient diameter of their front eyes.

If on the rear leaf springs were to break, the driver might not have full control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident and therefore injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. No such incidents have been recorded in Australia.

All known impacted owners will be contacted by Isuzu Australia with instructions to contact their preferred authorised service centre to book their vehicle in for an inspection.

Following this inspection, if it is determined the issue is present, the rear spring assembly and parking brake cable will be replaced free of charge.

Those looking for further information can contact Isuzu Australia directly via its website. Alternatively, they can reach out to their preferred dealership.

A full list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be found at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s ACCC Product Safety Australia website.
