Peugoet Partner 2020 pricing and spec: Light-commercial van sports active safety as standard

Peugeot Australia has announced pricing and spec for its Partner light-commercial van for the 2020 model year.

The Partner is all-new and resides on the same ‘EMP2’ underpinnings as the majority of Peugeot’s passenger car range. It is also the first Peugeot commercial vehicle to have active safety as part of its safety suite and it debuts the French brand’s “iCockpit” interior design on its LCV range.

The Partner is offered in three variants.

Two petrol-powered options with either an 82kW or 96kW 1.2-litre petrol engine are paired to the same new-generation Aisin eight-speed automatic that appears in the 308 hatch and 508 liftback range. These standard-length variants are 4403mm long.

The Partner has either a 3.8 square meter load area for the short wheelbase or a 3.9 square meter load area for the long wheelbase. The Partner has either a 3.8 square meter load area for the short wheelbase or a 3.9 square meter load area for the long wheelbase.

The petrol variants cost $25,490 before on-road costs for the lesser engine option or $30,990 for the more powerful engine option.

The third variant is a 68kW/230Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel on a long wheelbase (4753mm long) that carries a pricetag of $29,990.

The diesel is mated exclusively to a six-speed manualand subsequently misses out on a stop-start system, electronic parking brake and multifunction steering wheel from the rest of the range.

Active safety standard across the new Partner range includes auto emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning (LDW) and traffic sign recognition (TSR). The Partner also gets six airbags, both front and rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera as standard.

The Partner has a 1000kg payload regardless of variant and has either a 3.8 square meter load area for the short wheelbase or a 3.9 square meter load area for the long wheelbase.

Neither variant gets a multimedia screen, so there’s no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto phone mirroring either. The reversing camera works via a screen mounted in place of the rear vision mirror. In place of a media screen there is a console for operating the radio.
