New Suzuki Vitara 2020 pricing and specs detailed: Mitsubishi ASX-rivalling SUV now more expensive

Suzuki Australia has increased the pricing of its Vitara small SUV by $500.

The Vitara’s range otherwise carries over unchanged, with the two unnamed entry-level variants motivated by an 86kW/156Nm 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine.

Both exclusively send drive to the front wheels, with the five-speed manual now priced from $22,990 plus on-road costs, while the six-speed torque-converter automatic still commands a $2000 premium.

The aptly named and automatic-only Turbo flagship grade is powered by a 103kW/220Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine, with the front-wheel-drive version now costing $30,490, while its all-wheel-drive counterpart remains $4000 further upstream.

A Suzuki Australia spokesperson told CarsGuide the prices adjustments came into effect on February 1 and were made due to exchange-rate pressures and the company’s investment in improving its production volume and therefore delivery times.

As before, standard equipment in the entry-level variants includes 17-inch alloy wheels with a space-saver spare, LED daytime running lights, roof rails, cruise control, hill-start assist and reversing camera.

Inside, a 7.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, Bluetooth connectivity, a four-speaker sound system, a 4.2-inch multifunction display, keyless entry and start, climate control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, paddle-shifters (automatic only), fabric upholstery and seven airbags (dual front, side and curtain, and driver’s knee) feature.

The Turbo grade goes a step further with polished 17-inch alloy wheels, dusk-sensing LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding side mirrors with indicators, a sunroof (AWD only) and leather-accented upholstery with suede inserts.

The flagship’s suite of advanced driver-assist systems also expands to include autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist, hill-descent control (AWD only) and parking sensors.

The Mitsubishi-ASX-rivalling Vitara is covered by Suzuki Australia’s five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and comes with the option of an annual capped-price servicing plan.
