New Suzuki Swift Sport 2020 pricing and specs detailed: More safety and style for Ford Fiesta ST-rivalling city-sized hot hatch

Suzuki has updated its pint-sized Swift Sport hot hatch to its ‘Series II’ iteration for 2020, with new colour options and an increased advanced safety suite joining a mild price hike for this update.

The Swift Sport’s looks are largely unchanged, but the Japanese automaker has added another colour option to its already-vibrant palette, ‘Flame Orange’ that comes with a contrasting black roof.

The brand has also enhanced the Swift Sport’s active safety suite with the inclusion of blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. These join an already thorough standard active safety suite which includes autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

The Swift Sport is now slightly more expensive, with prices starting at $26,990 before on-road costs for the six-speed manual, or $28,990 for the six-speed torque converter automatic, representing a $1500 jump over the outgoing ‘Series I’ Sport.

Aside from the small additions, the Swift Sport continues to offer the same 17-inch alloy wheels, a 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and built-in navigation, keyless entry and push start, full LED front lighting, climate control, sport bucket seats, single-zone climate control, rear privacy glass, reverse parking sensors and camera, and a D-shaped leather steering wheel.

The Swift Sport continues to be powered by the same 1.4-litre turbocharged engine with peak outputs at 103kW/230Nm. Its fuel usage is said to be a combined 6.1L/100km.

The Series II Swift Sport joins similar ‘Series II’ 2020 model year updates to the Ignis, Vitara, and regular Swift ranges.
