New Suzuki Swift 2021 pricing and specs detailed: Toyota Yaris, MG3 rival improves safety with facelift

Suzuki Australia has released the rest of the new, safety-focused Swift Series II range, with regular grades of the facelifted light car joining the Sport hot hatch, which arrived in June.

As before, three regular grades are available, although the entry-level GL Navigator’s pricing is up $1300, to $18,990 plus on-road costs with a five-speed manual or $19,990 with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The mid-range GL Navigator Safety Pack has been renamed GL Navigator Plus and is now $1800 dearer, at $21,490 with the aforementioned CVT, which it has as standard.

However, the largest price rise is reserved for the flagship GLX Turbo, which is $2300 more expensive, at $25,290. It’s exclusively mated to a six-speed torque-converter automatic.

Buyers of the regular grades are compensated for their increased prices with more standard equipment. In fact, Suzuki Australia claims up to $2000 worth of features have been added to them, including auto-up/down windows and a digital speedometer range-wide.

The GL Navigator Plus and GLX Turbo go a step further with heated side mirrors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors, while the latter’s rear speakers are now fitted to the other two grades.

As reported, the regular Swift’s facelift can otherwise be identified by its new grille, front bumper and sets of alloy wheels, while its optional two-tone grey paintwork has been replaced by a single-tone hue.

No changes have been made to the Toyota Yaris and MG3 rival’s engine line-up, with a 66kW/120Nm 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol unit still used by the GL Navigator and GL Navigator Plus.

As its name suggests, the GLX Turbo continues to step up with an 82kW/160Nm 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine.

For reference, the previously detailed Sport stands out with its 103kW/230Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit, which is mated to either a six-speed manual ($26,990) or a six-speed torque-converter automatic ($28,990).
