New Skoda Karoq 2020 pricing and spec detailed: Flagship 140TSI Sportline SUV arrives to take on Mazda CX-30

Skoda has doubled its Karoq small SUV range with the introduction of the flagship all-wheel-drive 140TSI Sportline that starts at $39,990 before on-road costs.

Sitting atop the $32,990 front-drive 110TSI, the new range-topping Karoq crossover is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine outputting 140kW/320Nm to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

By comparison, the base Karoq is fitted with a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that drives the front wheels via an eight-speed torque convertor automatic.

Standard equipment across the range includes Skoda’s Varioflex seats, which allows users to remove the backseats altogether to increase luggage capacity to 1810 litres.

With five passengers in tow though, the Karoq will swallow up at least 479L in the rear, while the second-row seats can also be slid forward or folded down to up the capacity to 588 and 1605L respectively.

The 110TSI version is equipped with 17-inch wheels, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, dual-zone climate control, all-digital Virtual Cockpit instrumentation, keyless entry and start, and 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Safety systems include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, driver fatigue detection, low-speed autonomous emergency braking, rear parking sensors, reversing camera and seven airbags.

Stepping up to the 140TSI Sportline nets buyers 19-inch Vega alloy wheels, blacked out body kit and LED headlights, as well as a sports steering wheel with shifter paddles, leather upholstery and steel pedals on the inside.

The top-tier Karoq also sports a drive mode selector and petrol particulate filter as standard.

As with all new Skoda models, the Karoq comes with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
