New Renault Master 2020 pricing and specs: Ford Transit rival gets interior overhaul

Renault has revealed its updated Master large van, which will hit showrooms in March with tweaked styling, new standard equipment and a significantly refreshed interior.

Entry to the range has been raised by $500 to $44,490 plus on-road costs for the manual SWB (short wheelbase) van, with the ten-variant line-up topping out at $62,990 for the LWB Bus.

Pricing for the LWB Platform cab chassis starts at $46,490, followed by the MWB ($47,490), LWB ($49,490) and ELWB ($54,990).

For 2020, the Master expresses a new front-end look with an elevated bonnet line, as well as a refreshed grille and C-shaped lighting signature to put it more in line with the rest of the Renault stable.

Inside, the new large van gains a 7.0-inch touchscreen multimedia display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, in addition to a new tachometer and monochrome 3.5-inch digital screen.

Other interior updates include a redesigned dashboard with storage compartments, chrome trim pieces, a new steering wheel, “greater quality” upholstery, and an under-bench storage compartment that is now standard.

To improve the functionality of the loading area, the Renault Master gains new LED lighting as well as ergonomic handles for easier entry and exit.

Two solid colours are available, Glacier White and Urban Grey, while metallic Star Grey and Pearlescent Black are offered for $1000.

Renault’s bolder colourways like Orange, Carmen Red and Caribbean Blue are available on forward order only.

The Renault Master comes with a three-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, and is offered with a roadside assistance program that can now be extended to four years.

For comparison, the warranty on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter runs three years/200,000km, however, neither match the Ford Transit’s five year/unlimited km assurance program.

As before, the Renault Master is offered in three heights and four lengths, and comes in a number of body types including van, bus and cab chassis.

The van is exclusively powered by a 2.3-litre turbo-diesel engine which delivers 120kW when matched with a six-speed manual transmission, or 110kW with the automatic.
