New Porsche Macan GTS 2020 pricing and specs detailed: Popular SUV ups performance ante

Porsche’s new Macan GTS will arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2020, sporting a more potent V6 engine and enhanced equipment.

The GTS, which slots between the S and Turbo in the Macan line-up, is priced from $109,700 plus on-road costs.

Swapping out the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 for a new 2.9-litre unit has resulted in a 15kW and 20Nm boost to 280kW/520Nm.

The standard 20-inch wheels are coated in satin-gloss paint, showcasing the SUV's large red brake calipers. The standard 20-inch wheels are coated in satin-gloss paint, showcasing the SUV’s large red brake calipers.

With the “newly adapted” PDK dual-clutch transmission, and with the optional Sport Chrono package installed, the Macan GTS will sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds, 0.3s faster than before.

The SUV has also undergone some specific chassis adjustments, with uniquely tuned dampers and a 15mm drop in ride height.

Air suspension will also be available, lowering the car by a further 10mm, as an optional extra.

Like all Porsche GTS variants, the Macan GTS can be distinguished by its black accents, which now extends to the rear light bar, and wears newly designed side skirts and front and rear trim pieces.

The cabin can be personalised with leather or Alcantara upholstery, and can be optioned with a Bose audio system. The cabin can be personalised with leather or Alcantara upholstery, and can be optioned with a Bose audio system.

Inside, the German performance SUV features Alcantara upholstery, a multifunction sports steering wheel, and eight-way adjustable sports seats with side bolsters.

Comfort seats with 14-way adjustment will also be offered as a no cost option.

Other standard features include Apple CarPlay with Siri voice recognition, park assist with a surround view camera, privacy glass, side airbags, an extended 75-litre fuel tank and auto dimming mirrors.

The base model Porsche Macan is priced from $81,400, while the Macan S and range-topping Macan Turbo come in at $97,500 and $142,000, respectively.
