New Peugeot 308 2020 pricing and specs detailed: Mazda 3 rival returns with revised range without GTi hot hatch

Peugeot Australia has re-released the facelifted version of its current-generation 308, with the small car getting a MY20 line-up reshuffle after a MY19 hiatus.

The 308 range now kicks off from $28,490 plus on-road costs for the Allure hatch, rising to $30,490 for the Allure wagon and $32,990 for the GT-Line hatch.

Trainspotters will notice the entry-level Active petrol hatch and diesel wagon, and flagship GTi hot hatch are no more.

The former two were axed due to their Allure siblings’ latest pricing and specification realignment, while the latter’s discontinuation was owing to stricter emissions standards.

As a result, the Mazda3 rival is now exclusively powered by a 96kW/230Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine that’s mated to a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

Standard equipment in the Allure grade includes two-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim, a touchscreen multimedia system, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, keyless entry and start, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a reversing camera and parking sensors.

The GT-Line variant adds a sports body kit, LED headlights and foglights, 18-inch Diamant Black alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof and cloth upholstery with red trim, among other features.
