New Nissan Navara N-Trek Warrior 2020 pricing and specs detailed: Ford Ranger Raptor-slaying dual-cab ute costs less than you think

Nissan Australia has confirmed that its new flagship ute, the Navara N-Trek Warrior 4×4 dual-cab pick-up, is not only cheaper than expected, but undercuts one key rival by an eye-watering amount of money.

The N-Trek Warrior checks in at $62,990 and $65,490 driveaway in manual and automatic forms respectively, with the latter about $15,000 more affordable than the automatic-only Ford Ranger Raptor ($76,290 plus on-road costs).

Based on the recently launched (and Ranger Wildtrak-rivalling) N-Trek that is priced from $56,450 and $58,950 plus on-road costs in manual and automatic guises respectively, the N-Trek Warrior ups the ante with a series of off-road-focused upgrades that was designed and validated in Australia.

Starting life as a regular N-Trek built at the Navara plant in Thailand, the N-Trek Warrior comes to be courtesy of automotive engineering firm Premcar, which assembles it at its dedicated production facility in Epping, Victoria.

Specifically, the N-Trek Warrior picks up a body-colour hoopless steel bullbar with dark orange-accented foglight bezels, 3mm stainless-steel front underbody protection, an integrated 470mm LED light bar and black 17-inch alloy wheels with a full-size spare.

The N-Trek Warrior also gets a 40mm increase in ride height thanks to the combination of off-road-specific springs and dampers (+15mm) and 275/70 Cooper Discoverer AT3 all-terrain tyres (+25mm).

These upgrades mean the Navara’s ground clearance is up to 268mm, while its approach and departure angles have been improved to 35 and 29 degrees respectively. Track width has also been increased to 1600mm.

The N-Trek Warrior’s upgrades are capped off by ‘N-Trek Warrior’ decals, a ‘Navara’ tailgate decal, ‘N-Trek Warrior’ embroidered front headrests and dark orange-accented floor mats.

These features are in addition to the regular N-Trek’s black grille, LED headlight bezels, fender flares, side-mirror covers (with dark orange accents), side steps (with dark orange accents), roof rails, alloy sports bar and rear bumper.

Inside, the N-Trek Warrior shares its heated front seats, leather-accented seat covers with dark orange fabric inserts, and dark orange stitching throughout with the N-Trek.

Standard equipment otherwise includes LED daytime running lights, an 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, hill-descent control and surround-view cameras.

Three paintwork options are available (Cosmic Black, Slate Grey and White Diamond).

As reported, no upgrades have been to the N-Trek Warrior’s engine, with the Navara’s 140kW/450Nm 2.3-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel unit doing service alongside a seven-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

For reference, the Ranger Raptor combines a 157kW/500Nm 2.0-litre engine with a 10-speed torque-converter unit.

Despite all of the N-Trek Warrior’s upgrades, it retains the Navara’s 3500kg maximum braked towing capacity and Nissan Australia’s five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
