New Mitsubishi Mirage 2020 pricing and specs detailed: Facelifted Kia Picanto rival ups safety ante

Mitsubishi Australia has announced pricing and specification for the facelifted version of the sixth-generation Mirage micro hatch ahead of its April 6 on-sale date.

As before, two grades are available: the entry-level ES and flagship LS. Both have copped a $1000 price rise in exchange for additional standard equipment.

As such, the Mirage now kicks off from $14,990 plus on-road costs and tops out at $17,490.

For MY20, the ES gains a 7.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system with hands-free voice control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and digital radio.

The LS goes a step further with new LED headlights, daytime running lights and tail-lights as well as a fresh set of 15-inch alloy wheels.

Critically, the Mirage has upped the safety ante for all variants with the inclusion of autonomous emergency braking and a reversing camera, while the LS also gets lane departure warning and high-beam assist.

Two new paintwork options are now on offer: Cool Silver and Sand Yellow, which join Black, White, Cyber Blue, Red Planet and Wine Red.

Standard equipment in the Mirage otherwise includes Bluetooth connectivity, a 12V power outlet, black fabric upholstery and hill-start assist, while the LS also gains rear privacy glass, a four-speaker sound system, single-zone climate control, grey stitching and cruise control.

The Mirage’s 57kW/100Nm 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine carries over unchanged, with the ES available with a five-speed manual as standard or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) for $1500. The LS is exclusively mated to the latter.

As reported, the Kia Picanto rival’s facelift ushers in the latest version of Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield front fascia, while corresponding changes have been made to the rear end.
