New Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Transfer Minibus 2020 pricing and spec detailed: Toyota HiAce Commuter rival scores added gear

Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia’s new Sprinter Transfer Minibus has hit local showrooms priced from $72,379 before on-road costs for the base 414 grade and $87,926 for the top-spec 416.

Both 12-seat vans are powered by a 2.1-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, tuned to 105kW330Nm in the 414 and 120kW/350Nm in the 416, and are paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

Regardless of variant, the Sprinter Transfer Minibus boasts a gross vehicle mass of 4100kg.

Standard equipment on the 414 includes electronically folding side mirrors, rear door step, rear sliding door, electric passenger-side step, push-button start, paddle shifters and roof-mounted air-conditioning system.

The Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system with voice commands, also found on the A-Class range, is fitted as standard with a 7.0-inch screen, though a 10.25-inch unit can be optioned.

The system supports Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, while satellite navigation is also available to buyers.

Safety features include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, reversing camera, autonomous emergency braking, hill-start assist, roll-over mitigation and cruise control.

Stepping up to the 416 adds alloy wheels, a chrome grille, electric sliding rear door, automatic headlights and wipers, and a comfort overhead control panel.

Buyers can also option adaptive cruise control and surround-view monitor with the purchase of their Sprinter Transfer Minibus.

As with all new Mercedes-Benz Vans, the Sprinter comes with a five-year/250,000km warranty.
