New Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe 2020 pricing and spec detailed: Hardcore Aero Edition 63 blasts in

Mercedes-AMG will release just 63 examples of the Aero Edition 63, which is based on the brand’s go-fast mid-size coupe, priced at $188,600 before on-road costs.

Priced $17,200 above the standard C63 S Coupe, the Aero Edition 63 adds a number of aerodynamic, cosmetic and performance enhancements over the donor car.

The most obvious giveaway is the reworked rear spoiler, new front splitter and air-flow-optimised diffuser, which have been added to increase downforce and grip, according to Mercedes-Benz.

Lightweight carbon-fibre is also used for parts of the front apron, side sills, rear diffuser, spoiler and side mirrors, while the material also makes its way inside the cabin on the centre console trim and flat-bottom steering wheel.

The front seats are unique the Aero Edition 63, finished in grey and black Nappa leather with yellow stripes, while yellow detailing can also be found on the rear seats, dashboard, doors and centre console.

High-performance ceramic composite front brakes are standard on the Aero Edition 63, which boast six-piston callipers clamping down on 402mm discs up front. The rear brakes are a single piston floating calliper with a 360mm disc.

Shielding the brakes are lightweight staggered wheels – 19 inches up front, 20 inches in the rear – that are finished in a matt black colour.

Exterior colour choices for the Aero Edition 63 are limited to Polar White and Iridium Silver.

The Aero Edition 63 is powered by a carryover AMG 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 engine, outputting 373kW/700Nm to the rear wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.

As well as the engine, carryover equipment includes a performance exhaust, active dynamic engine mounts, LED headlights, heated front seats and head-up display, as well as an array of safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and surround-view monitor.
