New Lexus NX 2021 pricing and specs detailed: Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 rivals goes up in cost with update

Lexus Australia has increased the NX’s pricing as part of an MY21 update for the mid-size SUV.

As before, the NX is available with three grades: entry-level Luxury, mid-range F Sport and flagship Sports Luxury, with all getting new interior trim, while the latter has also added a heated steering wheel.

However, NX pricing has increased by $1800 to $2800, depending on the variant, with the range now starting from $57,500 plus on-road costs and reaching $79,088 (see full pricing table below).

Speaking to CarsGuide, a Lexus Australia spokesperson said the price rises were otherwise prompted by exchange-rate pressures.

“These are modest increases when measured against movements in the AUD/JPY exchange rate,” they added.

Of note, the increased luxury car tax (LCT) thresholds introduced on July 1, the start of the 2020/2021 financial year, helped to somewhat limit the price rises sustained by the Sports Luxury grade.

For reference, the NX is still available with two powertrain options: a 175kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine (NX300) or a 147kW ‘self-charging’ hybrid (NX300h), which combines a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated unit with an electric motor.

NX300 variants are mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic, while NX300h version are matched to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3 rival’s Luxury and F Sport grades have the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the Sports Luxury only comes with the latter.
