New Hyundai i30 N-Line sedan 2021 teased: Hotter version of Elantra replacement set for Australia

Hyundai Australia has confirmed there will be a performance-focused N-Line version of the new i30 sedan when it launches in the second half of this year.

To coincide with this news, Hyundai released images of a camouflaged i30 N-Line sedan, but when compared to its ‘regular’ sibling revealed last month, it’s nearly impossible to pick the differences between the two.

That said, Hyundai is promising the i30 N-Line sedan will get N-specific design elements as part of its sportier look, so expect it to follow in the tyre tracks of its hatch sibling with an aggressive body kit.

Either way, the real i30 N-Line sedan story will be told under the bonnet, where Hyundai says a turbocharged engine will be found.

The unit in question is expected to be the i30 N-Line hatch and preceding Elantra Sport’s 150kW/265Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol.

The i30 N-Line sedan will get N-specific design elements as part of its sportier look.

As such, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is also expected and is hinted at by the i30 N-Line sedan teaser video also released by Hyundai.

Hyundai is also promising the i30 N-Line sedan will come with chassis upgrades, which will likely include steering and suspension tweaks.

Details on the rest of the local i30 sedan’s engine options will be announced closer to its showroom arrival, although the 109kW/179Nm 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit is a likely starter.

Similarly, pricing and specification for the Toyota Corolla and Mazda3 sedan rival won’t be known until then, so stay tuned.
