New Hyundai Elantra 2021 teased: Toyota Corolla-rivalling next-generation sedan due later this year

Hyundai has teased the next-generation Elantra small sedan ahead of its Australian launch in the second half of 2020.

A teaser sketch of the new Elantra’s “edgy and aggressive” side profile indicates it will be a smaller version of the larger Sonata sedan, which also recently adopted Hyundai’s new Parametic Dynamics design language.

The Elantra’s front and rear ends can be glimpsed, with the Sonata’s cascading grille and integrated ducktail spoiler seemingly carrying over.

“The all-new 2021 Elantra’s design accentuates its progressive and exotic character through Parametric Dynamics,” Hyundai said in a press release.

“Cutting-edge engineering solutions and design innovations actualised the polyhedral appearance. Essentially, advanced digital design technology brought the Parametric Dynamics design language to life.

The new Elantra has a driver-focused cabin that provides clear separation from the front passenger. The new Elantra has a driver-focused cabin that provides clear separation from the front passenger.

“Having three lines meet at one point is the main element of Parametric Dynamics. This formation is a daring challenge, which has been avoided in car design, marking Elantra’s disrupter-spirit.”

The other teaser sketch shows the Elantra’s driver-focused cabin, which provides clear separation from the front passenger, as part of Hyundai Immersive Cocoon interior layout.

The decluttered layout is punctuated by a large touchscreen that seamlessly runs into the digital instrument cluster. This set-up “elevates the racing-inspired feel of the car”, according to Hyundai.

Meanwhile, a 25-second teaser video of the Elantra shows its angular front fascia and full-width tail-light bar as part of a brief exterior showcase.

The Elantra will be fully revealed in West Hollywood, California, at 1.00pm on Wednesday, March 18 (AEDT).
