New Ford Ranger Wildtrak X 2021 pricing and spec detailed: Limited run dual-cab ute returns to take on refreshed Toyota HiLux Rogue and Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain

Ford Australia has resurrected its limited-run Ranger Wildtrak X dual-cab ute for 2020, updating last year’s version with running changes introduced to the rest of the workhorse line-up.

Priced at $66,290 before on-road costs for the 147kW/470Nm 3.2-litre five-cylinder engine and $67,790 for the 157kW/500Nm 2.0-litre bi-turbo version, the new Wildtrak X is now $1000 pricier than the 2019 version.

However, the Wildtrak X scores bi-LED headlights, which replace the outgoing HID projector units, and enable a 17-percent greater illumination of the road ahead, according to Ford.

A power roller shutter is also now standard for the Wildtrak X, which is operational from a dash-mounted switch or button found on the tub.

Finally, the FordPass Connect technology is also included in Wildtrak X variants to enable remote vehicle start/stop and lock/unlock functions from your smartphone.

Building on the Wildtrak grade, the Wildtrak X adds unique black-finished accessories such as 18-inch wheel, fender flares, nudge bar with LED light bar, and snorkel.

Ford claims the extras amount to $6000 of accessories, while the Wildtrak X adds just $2000 to the Wildtrak’s price ($64,290 for the 3.2-litre automatic and $65,790 for the 2.0-litre auto).

Standard equipment includes an 8.0-inch Sync3 multimedia touchscreen, keyless entry, push-button start and leather-accented interior with contrasting orange stitching.

Safety-wise, the Wildtrak X mirrors the Wildtrak with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, reversing camera, hill-descent control, hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring and adaptive cruise control.

As previously mentioned, two engines are available on Wildtrak X grades with the 3.2-litre paired to a six-speed automatic, while the 2.0-litre version is teamed with a 10-speed auto.

Both engines drive all four wheels, while the Wildtrak X is available exclusively in the dual-cab body style.

The updated Wildtrak X also heralds a new pearlescent exterior colour – Alabaster White – which is also available to Wildtrak and XLT Ranger buyers and incurs a $650 premium like other prestige paints.
