New Fiat 500 2020 pricing and specs confirmed: Base Italian city car now more expensive

Fiat has adjusted its 500 city car line-up for 2020, adding a higher-spec Club variant and deleting the base Pop grade from the range.

The three-pedal Lounge hatchback is now the least expensive variant at $19,250 plus on-road costs, which is $1260 more than the outgoing Pop but $740 cheaper than last year.

Opting for an automatic transmission brings the Lounge up to $21,200 ($290 more affordable than before), while the auto-only Club checks in at $23,250.

Both variants are also available in convertible form, priced from $25,250 (-$240) and $27,250, respectively.

Distinguishing the top-spec Club are unique 16-inch alloy wheels, a fixed glass sunroof, premium seat upholstery, digital radio, exterior chrome accents, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and automatic climate control.

The Club is also offered with two different interior options including black fabric seats with white inserts and bordeaux stitching, or white fabric seats with black inserts and white stitching.

All versions are powered by a 51kW/102Nm 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine, although a manual gearbox is available exclusively with the hard-topped Lounge.

The rest of the line-up uses Fiat’s five-speed ‘Dualogic’ automatic transmission, which makes the 500 slightly more fuel efficient with a rating of 4.8-litres per 100 kilometres.

Meanwhile, the three-pedal version sips 4.9L/100km.

Standard equipment includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, voice command, rear parking sensors, cruise control with a speed limiter and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

In 2019, the Fiat 500 was the third best-selling model in its category with 673 new registrations, following the Mitsubishi Mirage (592) and the Kia Picanto (5237).
