Mitsubishi Mirage 2020 detailed: New look coming to Kia Picanto rival

Mitsubishi has uncovered its new-look Mirage hatchback, which now adopts the larger Triton and Pajero Sport’s updated Dynamic Shield front fascia design.

According to the Japanese carmaker, “the styling sweeps round from the sides toward the middle of the nose in a protective embrace” and that “this and the square grille lines with its horizontal/vertical bar pattern give the front end a more powerful and sharp look”.

Headlights are now LED units, which are integrated into the front grille, while the rear of the Mirage also gains LED lights in a L-pattern.

New colours to the range include White Diamond and Sand Yellow, whereas the 15-inch wheel designs are also fresh for the 2020 model year.

Inside, the facelifted Mirage adopts new soft-touch surfaces and front arm rest, as well as unique seat designs for higher grades.

Finally, a 7.0-inch multimedia system with Apple CarPlay complete the changes to the new Mirage.

The updated Mirage is expected to land in Australian showrooms in the second quarter next year, and will likely retain the sole hatchback body style after the sedan was discontinued in late 2016.

Exact Australian specifications are yet to be detailed, but expect to see the 57kW/100Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine carryover.
