Mazda CX-30 2020 pricing and spec confirmed: Hyundai Kona fighter sneaks in below $30,000

Mazda Australia has released details for its CX-30 small SUV line-up, which will kick off from $29,990 before on-road costs when it lands in local showrooms early next year.

Opening the range is the front-wheel-drive G20 Pure, while the more equipment heavy G20 Evolve, G20 Touring and G20 Astina is also available at $31,490, $34,990 and $38,990 respectively.

All G20-badged CX-30s are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, outputting 114kW of power and 200Nm of torque, and are paired with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

A larger-displacement 139kW/252Nm 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is also offered on the higher Touring and Astina grades, priced at $36,490 and $41,490 respectively in front-drive form.

For those wanting more traction, an all-wheel-drive option is exclusive to the G25 Touring and G25 Astina grades, priced at $38,490 and $43,490.

Standard across the range is an 8.8-inch Mazda Connect multimedia system with satellite navigation, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, while safety systems include blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

Also fitted from the Pure grade is a 7.0-inch driver display, push-button start, digital radio, 16-inch wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, rear parking sensors, reversing camera, rear spoiler and tyre pressure monitoring.

Stepping up to the Evolve nets buyers 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Touring variants gain keyless entry, sunglass storage box, front parking sensors and power-adjustable front seats.

Finally, the top-spec Astina gains a 12-speaker Bose sound system on top of the Touring equipment.

In Pure and Evolve grades, the CX-30 is fitted with blue and black cloth upholstery, while Touring and Astina grades gain a white or black leather interior with brown trim highlights.

A Vision Technology package is also available to all grades except the top-spec Astina, which adds $1500 to the cost of Pure and Evolve grades, and $1300 to the Touring.

The Vision Technology add-on includes a surround-view monitor, front cross-traffic alert, driver monitor and ‘Cruising & Traffic Support’ (CTS), which is a semi-autonomous mode for speeds up to 60km/h.

The Astina is already fitted as standard with the Vision Technology package.

Eight exterior colours are available, including Mazda’s signature Soul Red.
