Lexus IS F 2021 to be revealed in November! New Mercedes-AMG C63 rival to return with naturally aspirated V8: report

According to a new report, Lexus will reveal three very exciting models in the next year or so, with an expansion of its F high-performance line-up to come, headlined by the returning IS F sports sedan with a naturally aspirated V8.

The 5.0-litre petrol engine in question already does service in the RC F sports car and soon-to-be discontinued GS F sports sedan, in which it produces 351kW/530Nm, but Best Car Web claims the IS F will turn the wick up to 354kW/535Nm when it’s revealed in November.

The IS F’s return has been the subject of much debate recently, with the first-generation model discontinued in 2013 and a successor ruled out by a Lexus executive last year.

However, an ‘IS500’ trademark application filed in North America in June sparked rumours of the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine returning to the IS mid-size sedan under the bonnet of a new variant that would be less focused than a second-generation IS F.

That said, Best Car Web is now reporting a new IS F is on its way after all, with it ready to take on the Mercedes-AMG C63. Naturally, it will be based on the heavily facelifted IS that was revealed in June and is due in Australian showrooms late this year.

Better yet, despite another Japanese publication last month claiming Lexus had cancelled all V8 development in favour of smaller engines and electrified powertrains, the previously confirmed 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol unit is still coming.

In fact, Best Car Web says the new bent eight will punch out 493kW/650Nm in the all-new LS F sports sedan and LC F sports car, which will be revealed in October and November next year respectively. The former has been rumoured, while the latter comes as a surprise.
