Land Rover Discovery Sport 2020 pricing and specs detailed

The Land Rover Discovery Sport 2020 model range is hitting showrooms now, with the all-wheel drive luxury mid-size SUV introducing a number of key changes and a significantly updated look, too.

The Discovery Sport 2020 model line-up is split across three variants – S, SE, and HSE – and all versions come with seven seats as standard, and each of the versions are available with the brand’s R-Dynamic sports styling kit. Every model is sold with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic, but there are different engines across the model range.

The entry engine is the P200 petrol, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo with 147kW of power and 320Nm of torque. This engine is only available in the entry-grade P200 S ($60,500 plus on-road costs), while the P200 R-Dynamic S is $63,100.

Top of the petrol model range is the P250, available in the SE variant. It’s a 2.0-litre turbo-four with a higher state of tune – 183kW of power and 365Nm of torque. The P250 SE costs $67,852 (before on-roads). The P250 R-Dynamic SE lists at $71,232. Fuel use for both petrol engines is claimed at 8.1 litres per 100km.

The entry-point in the diesel range is the D150, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo unit with 110kW of power and 380Nm of torque. This one is reserved for the S grade, priced at $62,450, and the R-Dynamic S, at $65,050. Fuel use for this version is 5.7L/100km.

The D180 diesel engine is reserved for the SE ($67,910) and R-Dynamic SE ($70,510), and it uses the same engine with boosted outputs of 132kW and 430Nm. Fuel use is claimed at 5.9L/100km.

And the top-of-the-range model gets the top-of-the-range diesel engine. The D240 mill has 177kW and 500Nm, and fuel use is claimed at 6.6L/100km. It’s fitted to the HSE ($79,700) and R-Dynamic HSE ($82,900).

Running through the standard equipment levels, the S opens things with 18-inch wheels and a space-saver spare wheel (you can option a full-size spare if you delete the seven-seat layout), auto LED headlights, auto wipers, electric front seats, sliding second row seats, manual seat adjustment for third row, vegan leather trim, dual-zone climate control, and a standard-fit safety pack consisting of auto emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assistance, driver fatigue monitor, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and traffic sign recognition.

All models have a 10.0-inch touchscreen media system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, as well as Bluetooth phone and audio streaming and sat nav, and the 2020 Discovery Sport has the standard-offer Activity Key as well (a wristband-based smart key). Electronic folding and dimming side mirrors are standard as well.

All models have a 10.0-inch touchscreen media system. All models have a 10.0-inch touchscreen media system.

Over the S, SE models add ‘signature’ LED daytime running lights, a power tailgate, an interactive digital driver information display (in lieu of analogue dials), an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather seat trim, a leather-lined steering wheel, and a few other extras.

HSE variants have 20-inch wheels, 14-way adjustable front seats with memory settings and a 10-speaker Meridien sound system.

The R-Dynamic trim for each model includes a dark headlining, dark leather seats, black gearshift paddles, branded metal treadplates, metal pedals, and extra body-colour styling elements to the exterior (where the standard model has black plastic, the R-Dynamic version is colour-coded).
