Kia Stinger Carbon Edition price and spec revealed

Kia has given its Stinger a fresh new look.

The Stinger Carbon Edition is a limited run of the South Korean brand’s sporty sedan, featuring a range of extras designed to give it some extra wow factor.

As the name implies the Carbon Edition makes use of lightweight carbon fibre to embellish the styling elements of fastback four-door. Carbon fibre hood vents, grille surround, side vents, side mirrors and rear diffuser give the special model a unique look. Inside there’s no extra carbon fibre but the steering wheel is now trimmed in Alcantara.

There are no mechanical changes, so it still uses the same 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine, making 272kW of power and 510Nm of torque.

Based on the top-of-the-range GT model, that starts at $63,990 drive-away, the Carbon Edition carries a $4000 premium, priced from $67,990 drive-away.

Stinger sales are down 7.4 per cent year-to-date to September by Kia Australia chief operating officer, Damien Meredith is happy with how the car has been received by Australian buyers. It sells just over 100 units per month on a regular basis despite Kia deliberately avoiding fleet customers (aside from several police departments) in a bid to give the Stinger a more premium image.

“We want it to be a halo car, and that’s what it’s been for the brand,” Meredith explained. “It’s been amazing for us.”
