Kia Seltos gets the X-Line treatment! Booming SUV gets rugged, off-road ready makeover

Kia’s booming Seltos SUV has been given an off-road makeover, with a new X-Line model unveiled at the Auto Expo in India.

Designed to make the small SUV more off-road ready, the X-Line Concept toughens up the exterior while adding genuine 4WD credibility.

For start, there’s a new-look front end, headlined by a new grille, black-and-orange detailing, and blacked-out alloy wheels. There’s new front and rear bumpers, too, designed to give the Seltos an “assertive, rugged design”.

But the changes are more than cosmetic, with Kia also fitting a new front skid plate, roof racks and “all-terrain-inspired body panels”.

There’s no word yet on exactly what’s under the bonnet, but given AWD versions of the Seltos (in Australia at least) are equipped with the brand’s 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, good for 135kW and 265Nm, we’d suggest the X-Line would receive the same if it makes it to Australia.

On that, Kia in Australia is yet to confirm the Seltos X-Line, but the brand has some form in this department, having launched the Picanto X-Line here last year.

For now, though, watch this space.
