Jeep Grand Cherokee Upland 2020 pricing and spec confirmed: Limited-run SUV lands with extra kit

Jeep’s Grand Cherokee large SUV has gained a new special-edition variant dubbed Upland that is priced at $61,450 before on-road costs, which adds more equipment to the base Laredo grade it is based upon.

Sitting $3500 upstream of the $57,950 all-wheel-drive diesel-powered Laredo, the Upland shares the same 184kW/570Nm 3.0-litre powerplant and eight-speed automatic transmission, but is limited to just 44 units.

However, to differentiate the Upland, Jeep has equipped its newest Grand Cherokee with unique 20-inch black alloy wheels shod in Goodyear all-terrain Wrangler tyres, up from the donor car’s 18-inch wheels.

Gloss black finishes are also applied to the front grille, roof rails, side mirror caps, and fog- and tail-light surrounds, while the badging is coloured in a blue ‘desert sky’ accent colour.

Inside, the Upland gains an 8.4-inch Uconnect multimedia touchscreen system (up from 7.0 inches) with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, while the ‘desert sky’ blue colouring makes its way to the stitching of the centre arm rest, steering wheel and door armrests.

Finally, safety equipment is boosted by the inclusion of blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, which builds on the standard reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors and seven airbags.

Other gear includes heated and power adjustable front seats, keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, and acoustic windshield and front door glass.

Jeep says the additions to the Upland add up to around $7000 of extra equipment.

The Upland joins the Night Eagle, announced in June, as the second limited-run Grand Cherokee available in Jeep’s large SUV line-up.
