China’s half-price Toyota Land Cruiser rip off detailed! The Hengtian L4600 is a surprisingly luxurious copy cat
China’s blatant Toyota LandCruiser clone is edging closer to an official reveal, and now the Hengtian L4600 has been caught on film for the first time, capturing a surprisingly luxurious interior that defies its cut-rate price tag.
The film, captured by Secret Autochannel, gets up close and personal with China’s answer to the LandCruiser 200 Series, capturing an interior lined with quilted leather, a ton of wood-look trim, and central screen big enough to watch movies on.
Not bad, considering this L4600 costs about $42k, based on current conversion rates. In Australia, a 200 Series Land Cruiser will set you back a minimum $80k. So essentially half the price of a proper LandCruiser.
And it doesn’t stop there, with the leather trim extending to all three rows of the Chinese seven seater, ensuring those in the back get to experience a touch of luxury, too.
The Hengtian L4600 has been in the works since 2018, and was reportedly scheduled for a debut at the Beijing Auto Show, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus.
Yes, it looks a lot like the iconic Toyota, but there are some differences, of course. The grille takes on vertical slats, for example, and the headlight clusters have some differences, but if you squint a little, they look eerily similar.
The L4700 measures 5089mm width, 2026mm in height and 1800mm in height, meaning it’s bigger than the LandCruiser, at 4990mm in length, 1980mm in width and 1945mm in height.
Hengtian’s version is also fitted with a 4.6-litre V8 engine producing some 210kW.
