Hyundai Venue 2020 pricing and spec confirmed: South Korean brand undercuts Mazda CX-3 rival

Hyundai Australia’s cheapest SUV, the Venue, will arrive in local showrooms this month priced from $19,990 before on-road costs for the base Go variant with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The three-pedal small SUV can also be had in the mid-tier Active grade for $21,490, while a six-speed automatic transmission will cost buyers an additional $2000 on either variant.

Topping the Venue range is the auto-only Elite, priced at $25,490.

For comparison, the Mazda CX-3 line-up starts at $22,710 and the small SUV segment-leading Mitsubishi ASX kicks off from $23,490.

Pricing also puts the Venue around $3500 downstream of its Kona sibling that opens at $23,500.

As CarsGuide reported last week, all three versions are powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 90kW of power and 151Nm of torque that sends drive to the front axle.

Automatic versions are equipped with a ‘Drive Mode’ system, while ‘Traction Mode’ also allows settings to be toggled between snow, mud and sand.

Standard equipment includes automatic headlights, cruise control, 15-inch steel wheels, hill-assist control and six airbags, as well as an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Hyundai has also bundled its SmartSense safety suite as standard across the Venue range, which includes forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keep assist, driver attention warning, tyre pressure monitoring, high beam assist and reversing camera.

Stepping up to the Active adds rear parking sensors, LED daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, power-folding exterior mirrors, alloy wheels, and leather steering wheel and gear knob.

The top-shelf Elite grade gains blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, satellite navigation, climate control, 17-inch wheels and a two-tone roof.
