New Jeep Gladiator 2020 pricing and spec detailed: Ford Ranger Raptor-rivalling price for new dual-cab ute

Jeep Australia is gunning for the high-end ute market with its Gladiator pick-up, which will land in Australian showrooms in May priced from $75,450 before on-road costs.

Three versions will be available, with the aforementioned price applicable to the base Overland, while the Rubicon wears a $76,450 pricetag and the limited-run Launch Edition flagship is $86,450.

All versions are powered by a 209kW/347Nm 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine that sends drive to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Based on the Wrangler SUV, the Gladiator is built on a ladder-frame chassis, sports a low-range transfer case and Jeep’s Selec-Trac Active On-Demand 4×4 system.

Standard equipment for the more comfort-focused Overland includes leather seats with heating for front passengers, 18-inch wheels, heated steering wheel, removable hardtop roof, a full LED lighting signature, body-coloured fender flares, nine-speaker sound system and keyless entry.

Sitting between the front passengers is an 8.4-inch Uconnect multimedia touchscreen, which incorporates Apple CarPlay/Andoird Auto and satellite navigation.

Safety systems include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Stepping up to the off-road-ready Rubicon adds front and rear locking differentials, Fox-branded shocks, an upgraded 4×4 system, forward-facing off-road camera and 17-inch wheels with BFGoodrich off-road tyres, but also means the hardtop and fender flares are now coloured black.

The Rubicon also loses the black leather seats with front heating and a heated steering wheel, but a $2535 Luxury Package will add in those features, as well as body-coloured fender flares.

A $3835 Lifestyle Adventure Package is also available to both Overland and Rubicon buyers, which adds a trail rail system to the rear cargo bed, lockable rear underseat storage, roll-up tonneau cover, spray-in bedliner and wireless Bluetooth speaker.

Meanwhile, the Launch Edition carries over all equipment form the Rubicon, but gains three exclusive exterior paint options (Bright White, Diamond Black and Firecracker Red), variant-specific badging, leather-wrapped instrument cluster with red contrast stitching, 17-inch black wheels, steel front bumper (a $1650 option for the Rubicon), and three-piece, body-coloured hardtop (a $1950 option).

In addition, the Lifestyle adventure package is included as standard for Launch Edition customers.

The Launch Edition is limited to just 100 units.
